For one thing when you build a website you can put a little segment of code on it that allows Piwik to tell you how many visitors you got, where they came from, what action they took, what page they came into your site, what page they left from, what time they came, what browser they used and about a thousand more things.
So in a nutshell Piwik is extremely valuable to know what is happening on your website. Keyword is YOUR website. Piwik does not work on sites you don’t own. You must be able to edit the actual website code ( not just the text) to cut and paste the little script on your site.
