Today I updated my WordPress plugin WP-Piwik Version 0.8.8 to 0.8.9.
Then comes this message: “Unable to start session” when I try to log in Piwik. How can I fix it?

If it’s the only component you’ve updated you need to contact the plugin developers : WP-Matomo (WP-Piwik) — WordPress Plugins

i have deactivated the plugin. it came the same error from piwik!?
maybe it is the configuration on the server. (shared)

Problem solved. There was a conflict, because the java script I wrote was in the footer.php. WP-Piwik should also automatically write in the footer.php. After I had removed my listing piwik ran smoothly again.
