matomo overloaded my CPU 90-100% in the past 24 hours until I killed the process. what was it doing and why it happened?

How long was this overload? Maybe this is the archiving process? How is this one configured (CRON/browser, period, date ranges, etc.)? How many server are used for Matomo? How many visits and actions per day?
