Website traffic coming from another location

Hi,

We and our website are based in Sydney, we have also installed our tracker code. But the tracking data traffic shows that all users are coming from USA, while we have tried testing it in Sydney.
Any reason that this is happening?

Hi,

Do you have set up GeoIP2/Geolocation in the Matomo settings (assuming you are self-hosting Matomo).

Otherwise by default Matomo guesses the Country by language which is obviously often wrong.

So I have installed matomo in my aws ec2 webserver which is located in Sydney. How to set up GeoIP2/GeoLocation?

Hi,

Just go to the Geolocation settings

and download a geoip2 database.
