Hi guys,
I am trying to verify the ownership of Google Search Console with Tag Manager.
I have created a custom html tag where i put the google search console html tag in.
I have deployed the tag and previewed it --> it is fired as expected.
I see the html-tag properly deployed in the header-section as expected.
I verify within Google Search console --> it can’t verify…
What am i doing wrong?
Greetings tako

Help wanted: new tag
Helps you verify site ownership for Google see https://support.google.com/webmas… ters/answer/35179?hl=en
eg by adding a meta `<meta name="google-site-verification" content="String_we_ask_for">`
(to be tested if GA executes the JS of the container and recognizes it)

Thanks for your quick reply.
I tried this but it is not working…I can’t seem to verify it with Matomo Tag Manager.
Do you know why this might be?

Hi,
Google only fetches the HTML source of the page and searches for the string. Your tag (or any other Javascript code) never gets executed and therefore the only way to verify the site is to change the source on serverside.
