I had installed piwik version 2.16 for my website in ubuntu. Now, i want to update it to latest version. But, the problem is piwik is now matomo. So, do i need to re-install everything from beginning or i can just update it like other software is updated? Is there any database name change or something like that? I really searched for this thing in other sites too. Unfortunately, i did not find any relevant answer. I just want to know whether i need to rename or change anything in database, or i just need to run the command and everything will be taken care of.
You can just update and don’t need to worry about the namechange, but I would recommend the “manual-three-step-update”: Update Piwik - Analytics Platform - Matomo
And please do a backup of the database before trying to update.
