Updating a funnel - all data lost?

We need to update a funnel. Now we have seen this warning

There is no way to archive such a report?
What is the recommended way to do changes in funnels? I assume to create a new one, if yes, it would be very convenient to have duplicate action.

If you edit an existing Funnel, during the next data process run the data based on the new configuration will be fetched, hence the data will be lost. I’m sorry we don’t have a better option for your use case currently.

Could you please explain the context of duplicate action? Do you mean tracking duplicate actions in Matomo?

thanks for the feedback.
Given the fact that all data of a funnel is lost, it means we must always create a new funnel after each small change. This is time consuming.
If there would be an action “Duplicate Funnel”, it would help, because
1: Old funnel with old data is not lost (just no more in use)
2: New funnel is created very fast

Totally understand that perspective. We already have a feature request added in our backlog. Of course nothing is written in stone, and if our product team sees other requests like yours to make changes, that may change. I can’t make any promises what the future holds, so I want to be honest about our current plans here.
