Tracking "open in new tab" clicks

Hi everyone,

I’ve set click on affiliate links as a goal in Piwik and I noticed something strange:
When a user clicks on “open in new tab” the conversion is not tracked, even though it is tracked when a user simply clicks on the link (without opening in a new tab).
Any way to bypass this? or am I just being stupid?

BTW I’m using class=“piwik_link” to track cloaked aff links.
