Tracking iTunes podcasts

I have audio podcasts submited on iTunes as free podcasts.
The audio files are stored on my server, and so are the XML files read by the iTunes store podcast section.

I want to track how many times those XML files were read from iTunes. How can I do that ? I tried tracking the downloads of the XML files - didn’t work, neither did trying to track how many times the file was “accessed” - I guess that didn’t work because I don’t have the tracking code in the file.

Any ideas how to get it to work ?

One way would be to use the Log Analytics to import your logs

We now have a Media Analytics plugin that tracks Videos & Audio!

More information is available here: The plugin gives useful insights into media / video / audio analytics and adds many new reports, widgets and segments to Piwik.

Works with HTML5 video & audio, Vimeo and YouTube out of the box. Support for other players can be added easily and is documented in the developer docs. We are also happy to add support for more players upon request, please ping us. After installation the plugin will in most cases directly start tracking data see the setup guide
