I have two child sites and two sudomains. I am able to use the wordpress matomo plugin to track the subdomains, but it does not track the child sites. (I tried one page for a test and it did not track a test visit. Have since deleted the Matomo code from that page.)
I am informed that child sites are sometimes referred to as subdirectories.
