I used the right tools:

  • php /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/piwik/index.php – “module=CoreUpdater”
  • SQL statements to update Piwik
    I always go back to the same error: " Fatal error: Call to undefined method Piwik_Config::setConfigSection() in /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/piwik/core/Updates/0.5.4.php on line 53 "

my system:
OS:
solaris 10 sparc (64bit)

php:
php-5.3.16-sol10-sparc-local.gz

WebServer:
apache-2.2.22-sol10-sparc-local.gz

DB_Server:
mysql-5.0.67-sol10-sparc-local.gz

what version are you updating from?

Hi Matt!
Always start the clean version of the ‘db’ and installation path.
I used the following versions:
latest_v1.8.3.tar.gz
latest_v1.8.4.zip
latest_v1.9.2.zip

Right now I tested version: latest_v1.9.1-b2
It plays the same mistake with any of them.

The installation process is good down to “Update Piwik”. Using browser’s response is: "Fatal error: Call to undefined method Piwik_Config :: setConfigSection () in / usr/local/apache2/htdocs/piwik/core/Updates/0.5.4.php on line 53"
When you run SQL statements manually to update Piwik,
after returning to the login page, shows the login access, but when you insert the superuser: returns the last page: “The Piwik database will be updated from version to version 1.10-b2.”
