[SOLVED] Hanged up while geoip 2 install

Hi, I was installing Geoip 2 as recommend Matomo in its 3.5.0 update. After Geoip 2 install was launched then only show a blank page and stop working. Now when I’m trying launch the login page in my Piwik server only display that blank page and this “https://MySite.ext/index.php?module=MultiSites&action=index&idSite=1&period=day&date=yesterday” in the browser’s url bar

Could anyone help me about this?

NOTE: I’m not a very skilled IT, btw

I took a look at those folders in Matomo/plugins and noticed that there were two GeoIp2 & GeoIP2 folders with a slightly difference - Look at the vowel-uppercase of the P character.

I rename the ‘GeoIp2’ to ‘GeoIp2.wasteoftime’ then run Matomo and all were fine.

The GeoIP2 plugin is a plugin you downloaded from the marketplace.
GeoIp2 is the plugin provided by the core team for GeoIP2 support.

We recommend to use GeoIp2 provided by core, as we can’t promise Matomo will run correctly with GeoIP2 plugin from marketplace in the future

Thanks, but while I renamed GeoIp2 then Matomo hanged up again and stuck with the blank page before login screen showing “https://MySite.ext/index.php?module=MultiSites&action=index&idSite=1&period=day&date=yesterday” in the browser’s url bar.

Are there any solution to this?

Hi,

An white page just means an php error occured.
You’ll need to look into the php_error log to see which error happened.

Deactivated GeoIP2 and just removed GeoIP2 folder -Not renamed as seem Matomo looks for the renamed folder as a plugin trying to load it- and all works fine now. Thanks
