Hi!
I have a strange problem. When I try to adjust a profile and change an URL for tracking I get an error message with two versions:
Url for Google Search Console: The value for “Url for Google Search Console” in the field “SearchEngineKeywordsPerformance”-pluginet is not allowed
Url for Bing Webmaster Tools: The value for “Url for Bing Webmaster Tools” in the field “SearchEngineKeywordsPerformance”-pluginet is not allowed.
Why is the plugin Search Keyword performance stopping changes in a profile?? This must be a bug?
What can I do to fix it?
We often experience that the plugin does not work and can not fetch the search terms from Bing and Google. But the next night it can work. Seems like a very unstable plugin.
And now if it stops us from changing profiles I think we have to get rid of it.
Can you explain what is happening? Please help us.
Grateful for your help!
Best regards
We are using Matomo 5.2.2 and Search engine keyword performance plugin 5.0.18
Hi @E111 . Thank you for taking the time to create this post. I agree that the error message isn’t terribly helpful and should be adjusted. As Search Keyword Performance is a premium plugin, please contact Matomo support.
As an initial look, I believe the error means that you have that site URL configured for Google Search Console and you’re changing it to a URL which Google Search Console is not authorised to access. If you go into Administration > Settings > Search Performance, click the button to Change Configuration, and delete the measurable matching the URL which you’re trying to change from, it should allow you to change the site tracking URL. It looks like you’ll need to do the same for Bing too.
Hi!
Thanks for your quick response!
I have also contacted the Matomo support and I am mailing them as well. I will wait and see what they say.
I have verified the domain in Google Search Console and Bing. So I’m not sure that is the problem.
The url:s I’m changing is not mentioned or listed in Google Search Console. I verified the domain and not the including web url:s. I did the same for Bing.
So I don’t see the connection between a profile that has its own url:s and the verified domain on Google Search Console or Bing.
This is difficult…
Is the account you’re logged in with authorised to access the URL selected in that field? It shouldn’t matter as you’re not changing it, but it might be worth checking. For example, my organisation has granted access to matomo.org for the email account I authorised in Administration > Settings > Search Performance.
Hi!
I got help from the support. The problem was related to the field “URL for Bing Webmaster Tools”.
I realised that the value of “URL for Bing Webmaster Tools” is a dropdown alternative so I can’t type anything there.
So I went to the page of the plug in Search enginge Keyword performance and clicked on “Change configuration” for Bing.
There I removed the domain of the site I was trying to edit.
Then I went back to the website and tried to edit it, and this time it worked.
Hi! I’ve seen similar issues with the Search Engine Keyword Performance plugin stopping profile changes. It feels like a bug, especially when it randomly fails to fetch data from Google or Bing. For now, I’m keeping an eye on updates and workarounds. If you want to see how I’m managing this on my site, check it out here: [your site link]. Hopefully, a fix comes soon!
