We have an old instance of piwik 2.16.2. We will upgrade the MySQL to v8.
Will 2.16.2 run on v8 ?

As Piwik 2.16 is almost 8 years old (2016-02-04) and MySQL 8 has been released later (on 2018-04-19) I would say no… Also, I suggest you update first Piwik / Matomo to version 3 then version 4 before upgrading PHP and MySQL version
