"Phantom Visitors" & Clicks to external website?

Hello everyone,
I have a working Matomo installation that reliably tracks several of my websites. At one website, the visitor logs repeatedly count visits from different IP addresses that supposedly click on a link to a web radio station via my website – usually via smartphone. It appears as if they are accessing the radio website via my website.

Other trackers do not see or count these visits and clicks, and a mouse tracker has not recorded any actual such visits. Under “Title of Exit Page,” no clicks to the external radio station’s page appear in Matomo either. I did indeed add a link to the radio station’s website once, but then removed it again. Nevertheless, these visits/clicks are shown in the visitor log.

To me, according to Matomo, it appears as if some users of the student radio station are accessing the radio site (or its stream ?) via my website (the link I formerly used would sent them to the website, not directly to the stream).

How can I limit and stop the phenomenon of these “phantom visits/clicks” (or are they real?)?

Thanks for support
Daryl

Additional info:
Today I found a “transitions” graph in the report, where the clicked url “https://www.radio-mittweida.de” is shown as site url - instead of my real website url:

I used to track the clicked site (radio-mittweida.de) in former days in my Matomo account, too. Maybe there is a conflict / “overlap” between the two matomo trackings?

HI Daryl!!
Looks like the radio site might still be using your old Matomo code, so visits there show up as if they’re from your site. check both for any leftover tracking scripts.

                                                                    Good Luck

Thanks orson-111,
I immediately thought of that and checked, but the site ID was correct. I’ve now set everything up again on the radio site and, in retrospect, I suspect that the additional “noscript” option of the plugin I used contained a code with the wrong site ID.
The problem currently seems to be resolved; no more radio site tracking is arriving on my site.
