On-premise Server is need a public domain to receive data?

hi,
I just install a local server with on-premise.

bur I point the domain with localhost ip address.

is do I need point to public domain for receive the data come in?

Hi,

You matomo server has to be reachable from the visitors browser. So you probably need a domain (or subdomain) for it. And if you want to track an HTTPS site or want to protect your visitors privacy (which you should), you will also need a SSL certificate (e.g. from Let’s Encrypt)

Hi,

Matomo will work without HTTPS (unless the site tracked uses HTTPS), but you will send all of your users data unencrypted over the internet for everyone to read which might not be compatible with your local privacy laws.

There should also never be a reason for not using HTTPS anymore nowadays.
