No geolocation plugin works for me

Hello all

i just found out about matomo so in order to test this i downloaded the self hosted version and the free geolocation databases. Reardless which method i use and database i can see only the country of the visitor. Unless i got it wrong cities should also be detected (less reliable than paid dbs but still…)

In the IP2Location the db file is detected
For the a DBIP or GeoIP 2 i store in file in misc/ using one of the allowed names

In both cases on the system/geolocation page next to both methods nothing in detected
Only the default method returns the country.

I’m having an issue with the geolocation as well. I added the IP2Location bin file to my server and I can see it but I keep getting this message in my error log files “IP2Location\Database: Unable to open file”

Here is the message I’m getting inside matomo ’ IP2Location\Database: Unable to open file ‘/home/runcloud///misc/IP2LOCATION-LITE-DB9.BIN’.

It’s weird because the file is there and it appears to work for a little while before I get the error

Can you show a screenshot of your IP2Location Settings?

Can you plesae check your abusolute path to the database again? It looks like there is a weird slash in the path.

It might be the system running out of resources. Can I know the RAM available in your system? Also, please try with DB3, which has a smaller size that uses less resources.

I changed the DB to IP2LOCATION-LITE-DB3.IPV6.BIN

Any additional error messages you can find in the Matomo log?

What is the file permission for the IP2LOCATION-LITE-DB3.IPV6.BIN?

while taking the screenshots i realised that there is a proxy in the middle that messes everything up

Can you please make sure your web server has the read access to the file? As we cannot reproduce the issue from our site, we have no solution at the moment.
