Moving some data from 1.0 to 1.7.1

I installed a new Piwik server, copied all my data on it and ran the update from 1.0 to 1.7.1. Because I have a big database, the update took 26 hours.

I have basically 1 day of logs to move from my old 1.0 Piwik database to my fresh 1.7.1. database.

Any advice ?

Nice 26 hours!

Unfortunately there is no eays way to import old logs. Maybe try with phpmyadmin and import in the new DB (try in a fresh 1.7.1 first) and it might work?

It would work but I’m afraid of the extra work. Inserting these new lines in a database with new / delete columns is not an easy task and might break the data consistency.

I’ll try something else: reducing the time to run the procedure. I’m thinking of:

  • Increase processing power (As I am on AWS, I’ll rent a big baby).
  • Deleting all the log_link_visit_action before the last day of februrary.

As february is archived, I don’t need it anymore right ?
