We are migrating our Website Analytics from another well known, public cloud based, system to Piwik.
We like to store our data ourselves.
We have been running for 1 month with the two trackers, to ensure that the migration goes smoothly.
The problem is that the data is too different, in particular with regards to referrers.
Our previous system is reporting 17% direct traffic. While piwik reports 58% as direct traffic.
We can follow specific cases where we can see a referrer not been recorded in Piwik.
I have read already articles about this, including the FAQ, but they are neither convincing not very actionable.
At this point we are convinced that something is not working well in Piwik or in our deployment.
So, how can we debug the referrer system? Can we enable logs about referrer detection? can we display the referrer that was reported by the browser for a given visit somehow?
How can we trace this issue?
