it is not neceassary for everything to have some meaning, so i don’t think so there is any meaning of matomo.
Actually it’s worlds easier to pronounce and remember than Piwik. And I’m very particular about the naming of things. My number one rule is that If it’s difficult to pronounce then it’s easy to forget. Matomo rolls off the tongue and satisfies my rule. You could also say, “Matomo Makes Me Money”… And suddenly people remember. LOL.
