Matomo tracking correctyl but not representing correct Data - Data Limit?

Hi everybody,

We have a problem with a locally installed Matomo-Application (not On-Premise).

In our case Matomo is used to track the visits of numerous websites (10 in total hosted on the same server as the matomo client) in order to show statistics of the tracked items/sites, but for some websites and their corresponding sites it doesn’t seem to work correctly.

This is how the statistics-element is embedded in one of our websites:

And this works perfectly fine, but for some reason it sometimes doesn’t represent the correct data (depending on the selected item/site)

However matomo is tracking it correctly, atleast in the dashboard it says so.

I looked into the “Behaviour”-Tab and it seems the maximum amount of tracked items is 500? - is that correct?

So could it be that i need to buy an upgraded version of matomo (or some sort of license) or is there some configuration issue with my matomo version?

The PHP version is 8.3.9 and the matomo version is 5.1.0

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi @Jan27 ,
there is definitly no limit in Matomo for something like that.

There is a SpamPrevention plugin where you can set a maximum number of actions per visit, but I don’t assume you use that.

What do you mean with “items”?
And how do you know that the numbers you see are wrong?

Regards Udo

Hi @utrautma,

with “items” i mean the entries in the brehaviour-tab:

and as u can see it is only saving a maximum of 500 (at least that was my guess)

I know the numbers are wrong because i tracked how often i visited a specific site for a week, but the statistics-data was incorrect. On the other site the data was correct though.

Thx for the fast reply!

Regards Jan

Hi Jan @Jan27 ,

okay, the screenshot helped.
There is a row limit in Matomo. You can see it when you have reached the limit by the entry “Andere” (like in your screenshot) or “Others” in the reports.

Please see here on increasing the limit: https://matomo.org/faq/how-to/faq_54/
Don’t forget to reprocess.

Thx for the help @utrautma. I updated the config.ini, but what exactly do you mean by reprocess?

Regards Jan

@Jan27 Please see the step at the FAQ-page above:

If you don’t reprocess then only the future reports will use the new rows limit.

@utrautma Highly appreciate the help.

I now see all entries in the Behaviour-Tab, but i need to do further investigation if that fixed my statistics problem.

Kind regards Jan
