Hi - wondering if anyone has any ideas about this problem.
I recently setup a new site in Matomo and tried to test it was all working, but couldn’t get it to accept any data.
After much investigating, I found that if I used Chrome, the tracking registered. But I’d been using Firefox and no data is being shown in the interface.
Then I looked at the stats for two sites I’d set up some years earlier. Firefox usage on both is almost zero. Chrome and Safari, loads of data. Firefox, next to nothing. This suggests it’s not a local problem but something that’s affecting all Matomo users on my site.
I’ve tried numerous things.
- I’ve checked the JavaScript code - it seems fine.
- I’ve checked I don’t have Do Not Track set (I don’t)
- I’ve checked what’s going on in the Inspector. I can see matomo.js being loaded and it appears to be working. The cookie is there.
- I’ve tried disabling Firefox’s Enhanced Tracking Protection - but that doesn’t change anything. ETP also isn’t listing Matomo as something it’s blocked.
- I’ve tried using the image tracker rather than JavaScript. No joy there either.
- I’ve tried using Firefox’s private browsing.
- I’ve checked Matomo’s settings for anything that may cause a problem, but can’t see anything obvious.
I run a pretty vanilla Matomo instance - all on premises, standard plugins, nothing fancy. And I’m at a complete loss to what is going on.
I’m wondering if anyone’s got any ideas what could be the cause. It seems very weird that Firefox isn’t tracking at all,
