Lost attribution - Shopify & Offsite payment

Hiya,

We have issues with attribution with Shopify/GA4, where customers who use a payment method like PayPal are taken off site and then come back in checkout without their original attribution. Is there a way with Matomo we can fix this?

Matomo doesn’t natively integrate with Shopify. If you’re using a custom integration (via GTM, custom scripts, or third-party connector), ensure that:

  • Matomo’s tracker is loaded before redirection
  • Cookie/LocalStorage persists across the off-site visit
