Installing Matomo on seperate server than site being tracked

Hello,

I’m having trouble installing matomo on my server. There seems to be a configuration that is blocking the directory from being web browsable so mysite.com/matomo redirects to the home page and I cant start the set up.

Is it possible to install matomo somewhere else where I won’t have this problem and then embed the tracking code on the site?

Of course, you can install Matomo wherever you want and track howmany sites you want.

I wouldn’t recommend installing Matomo in a subdirectory of another website as this way the main .htaccess might interfere. A seperate (sub)domain should solve this.
