For the plugin I am working on, I’ll be using icons (user, profile, preferences, etc). I was wondering whether there is an official icon library coming with Piwik 2 ?

Yes please reuse same icons as bundled with Piwik core, so that your plugin will have a consistent theme. Most icons are in plugins/Morpheus/images
