How to track APK download button clicks as events in Matomo?

Hi,

I am managing an Android app website and I want to track APK download button clicks as events in Matomo.

Currently, users click on the download button but I am not sure if it is being tracked correctly as an outbound link or event.

Should I use event tracking or tag manager for this?

We are trying to implement this on our website and want to measure accurate download conversions.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

If the link goes to an external site, it will appear as an outlink. You might be better however to track the link as a goal: Create a Goal in Matomo FAQ - Reports - Matomo Analytics Platform
