How to send custom data?

Hi,

I would like to use PIWIK to monitor our company intranet website. I would like to track who is visiting the website, so I would like to get the windows user login.

Apparently, piwik does not provide this information by default, so I thought I could use the “setCustomData” function to send this data.

Can someone help to understand what this function does and can I force piwik to save the data collected and reuse it in a plugin?
