I’ve been exploring ways to connect small interactive tools (like ROI calculators, cost estimators, or engagement predictors) with Matomo analytics — basically to see how users interact with those tools and how that impacts conversions.
What I’m trying to achieve:
Track input behavior (like slider values or clicks on “Calculate” buttons) as custom events.
Measure how many users actually complete the calculation and proceed to CTA (e.g., “Get Quote”).
Identify which version of the calculator performs better during A/B testing.
Has anyone here done something similar — embedding micro web apps or calculators and linking their actions to Matomo goals or events?
Would love to hear if there’s a best practice for doing this without overloading the tracker or breaking GDPR compliance.
