Google SSL search / Firefox will join (td)

As we know Google has enabled the SSL search by default.
And we know the impact: no more search keywords in Piwik (and other analytics software).
But: so far it affects only searches from logged in users!
Of course you can use the Google SSL site manually…

But now the next release of Firefox (14) will send Google searches via SSL as a standard. So all Google searches done by FF (using the integrated Google Search) will use the SSL site - regardless if the user is logged in or not. This will increase SSL searches dramatically. Especially in Germany where the FF is the number one!

Maybe Google will change its mind and will give us also with the SSL search a referrer with keywords - they can if they want! But why? It’s a good deal for them to push their commercial Google Analytics Premium (which will probably be able to handle this…)
