I’m asking this forum because in June a series of indexing errors began to appear in Google Search Console that I believe are related to Matomo Analytics.
A series of links are being generated that have an ending that, according to what I’ve googled, is matomo. Here are some examples.
What is the origin of these annoying links that cause GSC errors and how can I remove them?
Hi @Tarifas_y_Web_ugarte
pk_*
are not set by Matomo, your links are used for campaign tracking. You can create campaign tracking links via Matomo (but parameters would start with mtm_
, but probably other tools (probably Piwik Pro in your case) can also do it:
Well, your answer leaves me a little confused. I assumed it was Matomo because I don’t even know other applications like the aforementioned ‘Piwik Pro’.
Apologies if I asked this question in the wrong place.
Hi @Tarifas_y_Web_ugarte
I think some of your users come form an email, an RSS feed, or something like that. Then you should ask marketing if they generate such kind of linkd.
Anyway, I don’t understand why these links (page view url) generate errors, they shouldn’t. But this is on Google side, as links are valid.
Confirmed that there is no active marketing campaign that could be causing these links.
In an initial search through Google (searching “pk_campaign=feed&pk_kwd=”), I found in the first result one user who also thought of Piwik-Matomo when he found similar parameters in his mysterious URLs.
Digging deeper into this search, I find over 100 sites with the same problem.
It is a mysterious case.
