Goal custom variables rolling up to 'Other'

I am using custom varaibles to attempt to determine how goals are tracking against specific user attributes. However the custom variables breakdown in the goals seems to be limiting the number of unique values to 50 and everything else seems to roll up into ‘Other’. Is there any way to make sure the custom variables don’t do this rollup?
