Hi, we recently experienced a massive drop in visits recorded by Matomo (from 700 - 1300 per day to 3-17), around May 25. Could that be connected to the new General Data Protection Regulation that came into effect on first July in Europe? (Our website is German).
I would be glad if someone could give me a hint.

Laws don’t change databases automatically

But it may be possible that you updated to the latest Matomo version around that time (which included many new GDPR features)
I’d check, if you changed anything else recently and if there are any errors occuring on your website (JS console)

thank you for your reply. I could have phrased my request more accurately, you’re right. What I meant was, if Matomo had changed anything according to GDPR. I’ll also ask my colleagues, what features they recently changed on our website.

I can’t think of any change that influences the number of tracked users. The new GDPR tool only add new settings or tools and GeoIP2 doesn’t have anything to do with how many people are tracked.
