Extra Viewer Profile when navigate away from cart?

hello,

i am using Matomo and Woocommerce on a wordpress site. I have noticed in my visitor logs that when i place an item in my cart, and then navigate away from the cart page, there is a new, “extra” Visitor profile created which is not connected with the rest of my visitor page view log. Why? And where, if at all, can this be changed? I have looked through all the settings under tags, triggers etc but see nothing that seems like it would apply here. The visitor profile has a unique profile ID and the geo location looks to always be the same, i am assuming the location of the server. I would prefer if this was “contained” within the relevant and ongoing visitor log if possible.

to clarify i am using the matomo wordpress plugin and all tracks fine except for cart activity. I have checked under settings and under General Tracking Settings “Enable Ecommerce” is active. i am not using the server generated Visitor ID to avoid compliance issues but it would “seem” like everything should work… I can see pageviews for the shop page and individual products, but no pageviews of cart or checkout, only the “generic” abandoned cart pageviews using the same (server) location/user id, and no connection with the actual viewer that navigated to the cart page and away.

Am i misunderstanding something here? Or is tracking cart and checkout pageviews only possible with an addtional plugin?
