We run a pretty well visited site with 300.000 pageviews per month. Direct traffic is around 30 % and this is something we do not understand. We have no mail newsletter, so we are looking for the cause of the high direct traffic.
The site is on https. Via a 301 redirect the http is redirected to the https. Could this redirect causes that the referrer is lost and that the visits that landed on http are registrated as direct traffic?
