Data in Visitor Log but most Dashboard widgets say "There is no data for this report"

This is a strange one, and yes I’ve read through the FAQ and searched for open bugs.

I’m running the latest-and-greatest Piwik 1.9.2 installed fresh today.

The Visitor Log shows:

  • IP
  • country
  • browser
  • OS
  • Referrer URL = Google Keywords: “keyword”

But…the Keywords, Referrer Websites, World Map, Search Engines, Visitor Browser, and Length of Visits widgets on the Dashboard are all empty or say “There is no data for this report”.

Isn’t that really weird? So the data is sitting in my database, but the Dashboard just doesn’t want to display it.

What browser version? Have you tried a differnet browser? Have you tried to re create the reportlets in the dashboard or make a new dashboard?

I’m using the latest Chrome on Win 7 64-bit. It’s not my browser because I have another Piwik install on another domain that works great.

Have you tried to re create the reportlets in the dashboard or make a new dashboard?

I tried deleting the widgets and re-adding them, if that’s what you mean.

I wish that was the answer, I had already read that and checked all 4 things…nothing applies to my situation. :frowning:

Also, it says "Visits from search engines or campaigns are not recorded"
But in my case they are recorded…I can see them clearly in the Visitor Log as well as the “Visitors in Real Time” widget.

Have you checked your error logs to see if that shows anything? Is the other piwik domain on the same server? What are server and php stats for teh 2 if they are different?

I’m not sure where the Piwik error log is located. I don’t see an Apache error_log anywhere inside the Piwik install dir.

FireBug doesn’t show anything strange happening that I can notice, either.

The other Piwik domain is on another server. They have many differences (everything from OS to one running w/ nginx and the other only Apache), but they both passed all the Piwik install checks.

not sure what’s wrong. can you udpate to latest beta: http://builds.piwik.org/piwik-1.9.3-b6.zip

maybe it works better . otherwise check your webserver error log files, there must be something there?

Updating to the latest beta didn’t help.

I’ll contact my hosting support and ask about error log files, because I can’t see any.

I see some error_log stuff like:

[Thu Nov 22 05:03:51 2012] [notice] Graceful restart requested, doing restart
[Thu Nov 22 05:03:51 2012] [error] (9)Bad file descriptor: apr_socket_accept: (client socket)
[Thu Nov 22 05:03:51 2012] [notice] SSL FIPS mode disabled

[Thu Nov 22 05:09:03 2012] [error] [client xx.xxx.xx.xxx] Invalid method in request \x80w\x01\x03\x01
[Thu Nov 22 05:09:03 2012] [error] [client xx.xxx.xx.xxx] File does not exist: /usr/local/apache/htdocs/501.shtml

But I don’t know if it has anything to do with Piwik. The server is also running other software.

I think some of your headaches are related to ssl?

error 1

error 2

http://piwik.org/faq/general/#faq_68 for ssl tips

But Piwik isn’t using SSL…is it?

Ours is installed at:
http://ourdomain.com/piwik/

I’m confused why SSL would interfere with our Piwik setup…?

It could be just a web service that is erroring, which indirectly is causing this error.

What Service provider are you using and what is the server stats you have? I know you mentioned one that worked etc but to a degree thats irrelevant as you still have another system where things are not working. This info might help us troubleshoot what is trult wrong…

Cheers

I’ll talk to my hosting support to see if they can resolve those errors.
