I read that custom variables are obsolete and instead dimensions should be used. We are using the Tag Manager which only knows about variables (but not dimensions which also seem to follow another concept).
So do we have to be afraid that in future versions the variable support for the Tag Manager will also be dropped? For instance we set the user role as a variable and use that in our tags to determine which user role did what. Is there maybe a better concept if variables should not be used anymore?
