Today when you create a Custom Report it is locked and static. It would be greater use if it could be made more dynamic over time.
Here is our use case: on our website we have several pages about news. A new news page gets created each week, sometimes two news in one week.
We would like to be able to create a Custom Report that would automatically add pages when they get visits. And not delete older statistics. It would be useful to be able to set the report with a URL-pattern or combination of URL:s/URL-pattern, and collect data from all matching pages in one report.
Today we have to unlock the Custom Report adjust the URL:s and wait for the report to start showing statistics. It is a lot of manual work and each time the report is reset and starts again. We lose data for older pages.
Over time some news pages will get fewer visits and/or the page will be deleted. But we would like to see the data over time. So we can compare a news page from January to a news page in April. And we need to see visits on a daily basis.
We have a Power BI-app created by an advanced user to collect all the news pages. It would be great if this was possible in Matomo. See picture below from PowerBI.
Each colour is a webpage. When a new page gets visits it appears in the graph. When a page is deleted or does not get any visits the line disappears as well.
