Clearing piwik_log_* tables

Is it safe to simply delete entries from this table?
My piwik_log_visit table is somewhat large and I want to delete some old entries.

You should use the build in feature to delete Old visitor log. Click on Settings > Privacy > delete old visitor log

The main problem of this is that it isn’t instant: 301 Moved Permanently

But anyway, I’ve just used a delete query and it seems to work.
