CHMOD 777 or not?

Hallo to everybody,
I’ve a doubt concerning Piwik installation as in the official guide is not mentioned the setting of folder permission to 777, but in many unofficial internet guides the setting is mentioned and suggested. What I have to do about it?

CHMOD 755 should do it, too.
