Can Piwik count streamed audios?

I’m using Piwik 2.15.0 on a WordPress site which offers streaming of audio recording (sermons). I believe the WordPress theme uses a MediaElements player. Piwik doesn’t seem to count this as a download - is there any way to track the number of visitors who listen to a given recording?
Thanks

Hi @jgwalker
I’m curious how we could track this. do you have some example of the audio player HTML code?

FYI: We will soon release a Media player analytics plugin, learn more in Create a Media Player Analytics for Piwik plugin in the Marketplace · Issue #9265 · matomo-org/piwik · GitHub

This is an example of what I’m talking about: What do we pray? – Carryduff Baptist Church

It’s a WordPress site so the code is generated.

We now have a Media Analytics plugin that tracks Videos & Audio!

More information is available here: http://www.media-analytics.net/ The plugin gives useful insights into media / video / audio analytics and adds many new reports, widgets and segments to Piwik.

Works with HTML5 video & audio, Vimeo and YouTube out of the box. Support for other players can be added easily and is documented in the developer docs. We are also happy to add support for more players upon request, please ping us. After installation the plugin will in most cases directly start tracking data see the setup guide
