Brave blocks 1st party tracking (Matomo), but allows it on their own domain?

It looks like the Brave browser is blocking Motomo scripts (a.k.a. Piwik), even if you run your own instance of it on your local server. Interestingly (and somewhat disappointingly), Brave does not block these scripts on Brave. What gives? gets to track users, but us normal people can’t? free netflix netflix free trial
