Bot Traffic Exclusion

After installing Matomo, I compared data and G4 is reporting at least 4 times lesser traffic to one of our sites than what Matomo, I suspect is due to G4 excluding bot traffic where by Matomo isn’t. I am on the right track or missing something!
How would it be possible to exclude bot traffic on Matomo?

Matomo do not tracks bots by default.
