I removed the tracking code from the Wordpress theme header a few days ago because I want to install the plugin instead. But Matomo is still counting, although I can’t see how it can.
Do you use Wordpress Caching? If so, try to clear the theme or template cache.
What happens when you visit the site with another browser?
