'True exit pages' and mobile users page return

I wanted to bring up a couple of points that I think could be addressed or better indicated in the system.

‘True exit pages’

  • A lot of users will enter through a page and when deciding to leave they will click back until they’ve returned to their search results or previous page. This means that the exit page registered currently is actually the entry page and what I’m more interested to see is the point they turned around and left. You can spot this using the action count and by looking at the times for the last pages.

Mobile users returning.

  • I often see mobile users who ‘returned’ to the site, but actually they didn’t return at all. They actually opened an existing tab to close it or re-opened the web browser to do something else with no intention of returning. This increases returning visitor numbers for mobile users.

What are everyone else’s thoughts on this?
