Tracking direct image/file hits

I wonder if anyone has figured out how to track direct hits (e.g. because of hotlinking or google searches) on files where you can’t inject the standard tracking code.

I’m thinking of php_value auto_append_file or something like that but didn’t investigate piwik code yet.

If it’s served directly by apache, then php isn’t even launched. So, no, that won’t work.

You’re right. Could be interesting to solve. I’ll stay tuned as I don’t have the time to look into it these days.
