long time piwik user, with a bit of a vanity suggestion: the current date picker is quite ugly compared to the rest of the piwik UI - so I am suggesting another GPL-licensed one:

The free js picker can’t show a range of date…
Well, I don’t think the datepicker in jqueryui supports ranges either… so this might come down to configurability and compatibility with jquery and plugins.
Here are couple JQuery range date picker, however am not sure if they in jquery ui or not.
