Product attribute data import / "Custom Dimensions"

Hi Guys,

I wonder if anyone could help me with this one:

Questions:

  1. Is it possible to import/upload dimensions such as product attributes?
  2. If so, will the changes have a retroactive effect? (i.e. product attributes tied to historical product-related data in reports)

Example scenario:

  1. Product ID is collected with other clickstream data from the website
  2. Product attributes: name, category, color are uploaded (manually or via feed) in a CSV or XML file, with Product ID as the key value

In Google Analytics this is called Custom Dimensions.

Btw. I’ve just come across this project on github:

It seems incomplete, but I think it addresses the issue in this thread.

As you found out, this feature we’d love to implement in Piwik but haven’t yet had the resources/time to do it. Please leave a comment in Custom Data Import (dimension widening) · Issue #6613 · matomo-org/piwik · GitHub with your use case as this will help drive product design whenever we have opportunity to work on this
