Piwik shows mysql has gone way

Hi First post hopefully its something simple.

I have a machine running linux php 5 and all requirements today when i viewed the machine I get like the install screen welcome to but says “MySQL server has gone away”

Its been running on this machine since may this year without any issues. I couldnt work out how to do a find/search on the forum so thought would ask.

The mysql server is running its serving to wordpress without any issues I just cant see why it wont work with piwik as it has been doing.

Any ideas please let me know.

This was due to mysql 127.0.0.1 in the config file changed to localhost and now works again.
I think i had a mysql update and i handnt noticed it.

Hope this helps anyone else who gets the error
