Hello,
I get the following message in Piwik 2.16.0-b1.
Running PHP 5.6 and Mysql 5.7
SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 2006 MySQL server has gone away - caused by plugin Actions
in most Widgets of the Dashboard.
Unpublishing plugin Actions makes this appear:
SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 2006 MySQL server has gone away - caused by plugin Referrers
This happens only. if I choose certain date range. I Updated from php 5.5 to 5.6 and mysql from 5.6 to 5.7 last Month
Also page titles in the widget aren’t shown but only from times before the mysql and php update.
So can I rescue my data? I also ran a new installation of Piwik 2.15 and it doesn’t work normally either.
What should I do?
Kind regards Axel

Hello,
none of the above or the post helped but this one:
changing default database charset to latin1 and default collation to latin1_general_ci fix the error. .
MySQL > 5.7+ now installs by default a utf8 character set…

Bug
Upgrading MySQL to 5.7 on a previous working Piwik has broken it. Most of the da… shboard widgets now error with:
Referrer Websites
SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 2006 MySQL server has gone away - caused by plugin Actions
Widget
Overview
SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 2006 MySQL server has gone away - caused by plugin Actions
As per the FAQ I have increased the following parameters:
wait_timeout=100000
max_allowed_packet=128M
Restarted and so on. Even tried reimporting the database and removing the character sets as per another solution.
Kind Regards.
