Need to sit within the websites' server?

“Does Piwik need to sit inside the production server to be able to listen to traffic sent / receive from machine?

I would like to use Piwik to monitor my company’s intranet but we use IIS and SQL Server, not php/mysql/apache. Can I set up an outside instance of Piwik on machine #1 and insert the required code into the different sites on the intranet on Machine #2?”

I did a search for IIS and “remote monitoring” but couldn’t find the answer I was looking for. If this question has already been answered, I would certainly appreciate a link to the answer.

Thanks,
Will

Sure. Since we don’t support MSSQL, your easiest option would be to simply set up XAMPP. This can either be on an an existing machine serving web content (just configure Apache to listen on a different port), or on another machine for this purpose.

Great, thanks for the answer.
